They certainly don't in our circle. My daughter's badminton academy is more competitive than her school, and we see it as essential for college applications and building discipline. Our investment in her athletic career is a strategic choice, just like her math tutor. Frankly, dropping sports would be seen as a lack of ambition or resources.
