The rights went through a sealed-bid auction, and 'per-match value' simply divides the total deal by the number of games to give a tidy, impressive-sounding figure. But from my workshop, I know a raw material's final price says nothing about the daily cost of skilled labour to shape it, just as that headline number hides the real value of the women athletes' years of craft. When I calculate my own 'per-basket value' after bargaining in Iewduh, the market always undervalues the hands that do the actual weaving.
