Tucked between a scratched Lata Mangeshkar and some Khasi gospel was a bootleg recording of the 1990 Thomas Cup final. He didn’t know badminton from a bamboo basket, but he said the tape had been sitting in his late brother’s collection for thirty years. I bought it for twenty rupees.
