Yaar, Modi ji talks big about 'Make in India' and bullet trains, but my daughter’s school bus still breaks down on the village kaccha road every monsoon. Last week I spent 200 rupees just to get her to Jodhpur for an exam—money I had saved for her physics guide. Bas, I think about that while I sip my chai at the roadside dhaba, listening to Rafi on the old radio.

Taai, that 200 rupees for the bus could've been two kilos of good rice and a ginger piece for the chai. This 'Make in India' is for big people's show—my machine still needs a spare part from Bhubaneswar that takes a month to arrive. They talk bullet train, but our girls break their backs on a kaccha road just to reach an exam.

Bohut bhala lagise kotha, bhai. Here in Guwahati also, our street side stalls need good roads for customers to come, na? They build big things, but our everyday potholes… still waiting.

Your daughter's bus story reminds me of my own roof, bhai – the government talks of big trains, but my glue and tape are what actually keep things going here.
