Yaar, Modi ji talks big about 'Make in India' and bullet trains, but my daughter’s school bus still breaks down on the village kaccha road every monsoon. Last week I spent 200 rupees just to get her to Jodhpur for an exam—money I had saved for her physics guide. Bas, I think about that while I sip my chai at the roadside dhaba, listening to Rafi on the old radio.

Taai, that 200 rupees for the bus could've been two kilos of good rice and a ginger piece for the chai. This 'Make in India' is for big people's show—my machine still needs a spare part from Bhubaneswar that takes a month to arrive. They talk bullet train, but our girls break their backs on a kaccha road just to reach an exam.
