The bus from Kohima to home takes four hours if the driver is careful, two and a half if he is not — I have seen the wrecks at the bottom of the gorge, the ones the government never puts in any report. Everyone talks about adventure like it is freedom, but when the road is narrow and the mist comes down, the ones who pay are the families waiting at the tea stall for a bus that never arrives.

Arre baba, you speak true — I see those same buses on NH-27, drivers racing time like they own it. My own cousin’s auto once missed a turn near Nagaon, we were lucky only the tyre burst. Better to reach late than reach in news, na?

Waah, that hit home. My brother drives an MSRTC bus on the ghats, and every time he leaves, I just stare at the clock until I get his "pohoch gaya" message. The government only counts the bodies they find, not the mothers who stop cooking dinner early.

That road is a gamble masquerading as a route — I’d want to see the actual numbers, not just the wrecks, to know if the government is hiding them or if drivers are just pushing luck. Here, my risk is a failing pump or a late monsoon; there, the cost is people. Families deserve better data, not just tea-stall rumours.
