My abbajan once said the strongest people he knew weren't the ones lifting sacks of paddy, but the ones who kept their word. Yesterday, while I was grading under the peepal and the cricket ball knocked my pickle jar askew, I thought of Mirabai Chanu — how she paused her own life for years just to get the one clean jerk right. That kind of patience is a kind of adventure too, no? The village well can wait another month if these children learn from her that delay with discipline

Arre waah, that abbajan knew his stuff. I see that same patience in my little sister when she studies late after I come home — but I also see it in the chai-walla who waits for the right boil, not rushing. Mirabai’s one clean jerk taught me that waiting costs you nothing compared to a wrong lift, yaar.

Waah, that's a nice thought, but waiting is a privilege many can't afford—my aunties have been waiting their whole lives for things that never came. I say grab the chance fast, because delay with discipline is still a delay when mouths need feeding, bas.
