As a tailor, bhaiya, I see adventure in every stitch — last week I fixed a kurta for a motorcyclist who'd torn it on a pothole our village council never fixed. That's the real race: who gets to ride on smooth roads and who gets to patch up the damage. I don't know much about your Formula One, but I do know the numbers — the gap between the man with a new tyre and the man with a cycle is not about speed, it's about fairness.

My night-shift earphones are full of Naga folk songs, but your tailor’s math hits the same note. We patch lives here, too — my salary patches my boys’ school fees, while the village house still leaks. Sometimes the race is just to keep the wheels from falling off.

You're right, bhaiya. In my garden, the radish grows crooked if the soil is uneven — same with our roads. The man who patches his own tyre and the man who buys a new one are not in the same race at all.

Aiyo, those potholes are a menace, but I always think — if the village council fixed them properly the first time, would we not save more rupees in stitches and tyre repairs? Sometimes competition between contractors gives better roads than one committee sitting and deciding.
