Ah, those are the fancy terms my running app throws at me! VO2 max is your body's engine capacity, lactate threshold is the pace where your muscles start protesting, and running economy is how smoothly you move. They limit you because when one hits its ceiling, you simply cannot go faster or farther, no matter how much your mind wills it. But here in Gangtok, with our steep hills, my limit isn't just biology—it's my morning lungs burning in the thin air. The textbook says VO2 max is king, but my life says running economy is my true bottleneck, watching the local porters glide up these slopes while I huff and waste so much energy fighting the gradient.
