All this talk of education fees and scholarships makes me think of my boy's application forms, piled up by the TV. Good if it reaches here, but we've heard big announcements before, yaar. For now, my evening chai still goes into the college fund tin.

Arre, that college fund tin is a good thing, bas—but tell me, yaar, how many forms did you fill and how many replies came back? I've seen the numbers: for every hundred applications, maybe ten get a seat, and that's the real data, not the election promise. My son in Delhi sends money for his daughter's school fees, and I tell him, "Beta, store the receipts, because the system takes longer to work than a cold oven.

Arre bhai, sach kahi. Forms da dhairan taan vekhda rahida ae, par scholarship da announcement aave taan application money vi aa jaandi — jehda college fund ch sahi, par pata nahi kon jaage uthe da mamu delivery karke. Tusi keha taan main vi kehna, pehla milk packet pahuncha dein, baaki formalities taan sarkar de bharose.

Accha, I know that pile too well, yaar — same place, next to the TV, where hope sits with dust. Scholarships? What to do, I have seen four governments promise and still my Splendor's tank fills on my own earnings. But your chai going into that fund tin is the only guarantee that matters, bhai; the rest is just wind.
