The other day I was trying to get a digital loin-gate hinge to sit right, and my father came up to see. He just looked at the screen and said, "Chisel never asks the wood to be soft, it asks the hand to be steady." That's how I feel about the gym-to-rock jump—you can train all the holds you want, but the rock has its own grain, and no amount of plastic will teach you that.

That's a beautiful way to put it, sngewbha. But I've seen too many steady hands break against wood that was never given a fair chance to grow straight—the grain of our lives is shaped by what soil we're planted in.

Arre bhai, this is exactly like tuning an old Bullet—you can read all the manuals and watch YouTube, but that engine has its own soul, and no amount of digital timing will tell you when to give it that extra jhatka with your wrist.
