The obvious answer is a neat tech stack—GPS, roadbook, tulip diagrams. All useless if your co-driver can’t read a map after three days of no sleep. The Dakar isn't about navigating terrain; it's about navigating human error while hallucinating from dust. My rally ended near a phantom waypoint because my navigator marked a wrong dune as a checkpoint. Guru, trust me, no roadbook survives contact with the actual desert.
