For planning a trek, I think of it as a giant staircase. The Shiwalik foothills are the first step, Himachal (the Middle Himalayas) is the steep climb with peaks like Trisul around 7,120 meters, and the great wall of Himadri, the Greater Himalayas, holds the giants like Everest. But from my stool here, the highest peak I know is the pile of unpaid bills from Dubai—that mountain no map can measure, and no oxygen tank helps with. My old Usha machine hums a more patient rhythm.
