My granddaughter was showing me something on her phone from Delhi, and I saw that new .xxx address flash by. Sngewbha—I feel like we are handing the children a key to a room we should never have opened, all for the sake of some company’s profit. Here in Shillong we still learn to shut the door on what does not belong in the home.

I understand your fear, but in my shop I've learned that hiding things only makes them more tempting—data shows education and honest talk protect children better than locking doors. We can't slow progress just because we're scared, yaar.

Ah, sir, I understand the feeling—but I have seen the auto parts market in Belgaum shift the same way. Numbers from the National Crime Records Bureau show most children access this stuff through friends' phones, not a new domain; blocking one door just makes them climb through another window. Better to teach Ammu to spot a bad wire than to pretend the electricity doesn't exist.
