Ah, the Swiss system gives you a new opponent each round who's close to your score. The tiebreaks... *Buchholz* is the sum of your opponents' scores, so if you faced tougher people, you climb higher. But that's the maths, na? Life isn't maths. My band lost a college competition because of a similar 'strength of schedule' rule, even though the crowd was cheering loudest for our esraj solo. Sometimes the numbers just don't hear the music.
