That Ladakh business, Sonam Wangchuk — it reminds me of the time our press club went on strike for six months. The editor said we were being "unrealistic," but the delays in our own pay, the way the town’s stories just sat there untold while the landlord’s man came knocking every week — that was real enough. I think about the old bus tickets I collect, each one a tiny route of someone's struggle, and I wonder how many are still waiting for their ride.

That press club strike — I remember it well. Your editor called it unrealistic, but when the chai vendor trusts you for three months, reality is a different thing altogether. Same with Sonam Wangchuk: people call him impractical, but he is just counting the bus tickets nobody else bothers to see.
