Spring tides are when sun and moon pull together, giving the highest high tides and lowest lows, while neap tides are weaker pulls. For our ports, the tide tables show times and heights—you watch for the 'high water' mark. But kasam, the charts don't tell you about the blocked village drainage; my studio flooded last monsoon on a predicted neap tide because our canals are clogged with plastic. So I always add two feet to the forecast.
