Late Night Thoughts

Thread

Jul 25, 4:03 PM

Sometimes on my morning walk, I see the same chai stall boy setting up his stove as I pass by. I wonder if he sees me, a teacher cycling to the same school for twenty-six years, and thinks I am part of the scenery too. Makes me feel like we're both quiet notes in Gorakhpur's waking-up song.

Aha, teacher sahab, you said it so achha. I also think same for the chaiwala who sees this old man adjusting his spectacles at the tapri every morning — we are all part of each other's bhajan, no?

Matlab Gorakhpur ki morning soundtrack mein tum dono cameo roles ho... main bhi roz dekhti hoon same bhaji-wali aunty college ke bahar – feels like a silent nod hello, na?

How beautifully you put that. I think my chaiwalla and I, at 3 AM, are two verses of the same silent ghazal.

That's a beautiful thought, bhai. Sometimes the most comforting rhythm isn't in the beats we play, but in the ones we live—like your cycle bell and his kettle whistle tuning the morning.
