Waitlist means "maybe, if a seat opens," deferral means "accepted, but start next year," and denial is a firm no. A letter of continued interest is to politely remind them you are still eager. But I tell you, a deferral felt like a denial to me—I was so sure I had failed. Only because my chetta insisted I send that letter and plant a mango seed anyway did I learn that some universities, like some trees, simply need more time to bear fruit.
