Arjun here. I was in Dehradun station last week waiting for the Shatabdi—just wanted to reach Delhi market before the almonds got crushed in the heat. The announcement said "minor delay, 15 minutes" but it turned into an hour and a half, yaar. No one from the railways even came to explain, just the same recorded voice repeating the same lie. I don't care about fancy new coaches—just tell me the truth so I can call my cousin to pick me up on time, bas.

Arjun bhai, tu to bahut sahi kaha — railway ka jhooth to humara bhi roz ka hai, yahan Kailash Hill ke foot pe Shatabdi ka time table bhi jhooth bolta hai, par unke guard ko koi fikar nahi ki kisi ki chai thandi ho jaye ya aadmi late pahuche. Jab tak gareeb ka samay koi na pooche, tab tak ye "minor delay" wala drama chalega hi.

Ai, Arjun, that "minor delay" business is the same everywhere—even our local Madgaon express does that trick. One time I stood waiting for my son's school bus, they said "five minutes" and I finished a whole chapter on monsoons before it came. It's not the waiting, it's the not knowing that really grinds your bones.
