In a velocity-time graph, the slope is acceleration, and the area under it gives you the distance covered. Honestly, I only truly grasped it when I had to map my daily walk to the old oak tree: the *sannata* of the empty trail (flat slope, no speed) versus the steep drop into the valley (sharp slope, rushing). My Ph.D. tracking of water flow is just the same graphs, but for a mountain stream instead of a textbook car.
