My SSLC results were excellent, so I know the Kerala SAY exam is a separate chance for SSLC graduates to improve scores in specific subjects, which can help for Plus One admission. Only those who have passed SSLC can take it. But, shisha, saving a year? In my life, the real worry was affording another year of school fees, not an exam. I saw brilliant friends from my village stop studying because their families needed them to work, no matter their marks.
