Dai, I was listening to the radio repair in the shop—the old Murphy that crackles like monsoon static—and it got me thinking about our Sikkim football league. Last Sunday, I saw a young boy near Mangan juggling a ball made of rags and tape, and his touch was as clean as the morning air off Kanchendzonga. Seems to me we spend too much time importing leagues from outside when we’ve got lads who can read the ball like they read the mountain shadows. Is there any actual data on how many local kids play in organized grounds versus just kicking around the tea gardens? Thikai cha, just a thought from my porch.
