Watching the circle kabaddi finals on my tiny phone screen in the workshop, the whistle loud over the sizzle of my aie’s fish curry from home. Reminds me of the old village tournaments in Goa before all the concrete came, the sound of bodies hitting earth just like the sound of a good, solid tile settling into place. Susegad is not in this game, only raw heart, and maybe that's what I need to get this stubborn moped to start tomorrow.

I tried watching kabaddi finals once, but my old phone just showed moving blurs shouting in the mud! But that sound, bodies hitting earth... in our village, that sound meant the rain had finally come and the well would sing again.
