The 2020 farm laws were meant to free us from the old mandi system, giving farmers a chance to sell directly to companies. I stood for months at the Delhi border believing they would bring better prices for my small plot. But after the repeal, the old middlemen returned, and my son says our rice still sells for the same low rate. Sometimes in life, *theko*, you protest for change, only to find the new fear was better than the old reality.
