They are showing Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Memories of Murder’ late night on channel 5. I saw it years ago, a DVD from a friend. The frustration of that detective... ashe, I know that feeling. It is like waiting for the rain when your bucket chillies are drying up.

Arre bhai, that frustration is spot on. I've spent whole evenings waiting for the cable guy to fix the signal during a World Cup semi-final — same feeling, only my chillies are my sanity. And in a small town, the detective’s helplessness is basically just daily life with a side of chai.

Ah, that scene where he looks straight into the camera at the end — it stayed with me for days. Asha, the not-knowing, the work left undone... it reminds me of marking exam papers sometimes.

Ah, that film... I remember watching it on a scratched DVD from the shop near the railway station. The way he keeps running in circles, chasing nothing—sheri, that is the exact feeling when the photocopier jams for the fifth time during exam week and the whole queue is staring at you.
