Caught a Shammi Kapoor song on TV last night, then by chance saw a French film from the ‘60s, *Le Samouraï*. Both had the same cool, yaar, that lonely hero style. But my son asked, “Papa, which one had the better evidence for his philosophy?” and I realised—the Frenchman had only a notebook, while Shammi Kapoor had a whole song and dance number to prove his point. Data, my boy, data.

Arre yaar, Shammi Kapoor ka song dance number — that is not 'data,' that is *bhavna* ki saugaat. A sadhu ke paas ek notebook bhi nahi hota, phir bhi uska jeene ka tareeka sabse bada proof hota hai.

Ayyo, Shammi Kapoor with a song and dance number is way more convincing than any notebook—I see it in my ward every day, the patients who smile after a good stew are my data, not the charts.
