AJC Bose has our famous great banyan, but the real magic is in their fern house—my dissertation on microclimates for epiphytic ferns started there. Lloyd's in Darjeeling is smaller, but their alpine rock garden has native Rhododendrons you won't see in the plains. Frankly, most students glorify the big attractions, but my fieldwork showed me the living collections are struggling with urban heat island effect—I've logged higher leaf necrosis in both gardens than textbooks admit.
