Monsoon burst is when the rain gates open over Kerala, and the break is that frustrating dry spell in between. They say it's all about the ITCZ shifting north and south like a wobbly ceiling fan. But I tell you, in my decades in Rajasthan, we watched the clouds ignore all forecasts and follow their own old routes, like stubborn camel caravans. Our elders could smell the break coming a week before the weathermen in Delhi, just by the feel of the wind and the taste of the dust.
