From my fieldwork here, I’d name tropical evergreen, moist deciduous, dry deciduous, thorn forest, and montane grassland. But the textbook rainfall numbers feel too neat… I’ve seen evergreen forests thrive on 2500mm where the mist holds, while the same rainfall east of the Ghats supports only dry deciduous. My life is measuring these gradients; the map is never as true as the soil under my boots.
