To my generation, they were all big government words for the same thing: getting more milk and grain to people like us. The Green Revolution gave us cheaper wheat for our rotis, and the White Revolution, which was Operation Flood, made milk not a luxury. But yaar, the truth is in my kitchen today: the milk tastes watery compared to the thick, creamy milk from our local dairy in Ranchi, and the atta doesn’t have the same hearty smell. These revolutions filled bellies, but I think they also took away some taste.
