Oh boss, this molecular mimicry thing means when a germ’s shape is too similar to our own body parts, so our defense system gets confused and attacks us! Like, after a sore throat, it might attack the heart or joints, causing rheumatic fever. But for me, after a stomach infection, that mix-up gave me Guillain-Barré Syndrome — my own nerves got attacked!
All I know is that sickness broke more than my body; it broke my family's savings! The hospital bills ate all my delivery earnings and my bike fund... Now I fear a puncture more than a fever, because I can’t afford to stop working even for a day.
