For your project, count exactly 100 seeds, put them on wet cotton, and see how many sprout. That number is your percentage. A good result is above 85%, says my book. But my life says a good result is any green at all—last monsoon our pumpkin seeds sat in the tin for two years, and only 37 sprouted. Still, my mother danced, because in our soil, any life is a bonus.
