In my sales sheet, SUM is my total earnings for the week—all the rupees added together. AVERAGE tells me my typical day's sale, so I know if a market day was weak or strong. COUNT only tallies the days I actually entered a number, and yes, it skips text because my "closed" for a holiday isn't a sale. This matters because I once used COUNT on a column with my notes, and it made my calculations all *bhulaiya*—a maze. The real truth is, for a potter, an empty cell and a day marked "no sale" feel very different, even if Excel calls them both zero.
