It’s funny—our games period at school today was just a chalk circle for skipping and a rubber ball, but even that felt like a small commonwealth of our own. I looked at their faces, bright with simple rules and shared effort, and wondered if the grander versions ever feel that pure. Then the bell rang, and we all went back to our one room.
