This friend is writing in a language I don't follow, but from the English words I see cricket and Imphal — so I will say this: if they are complaining that cricket is being used as a political *“Mai-Tai”* (flag-waving) instead of letting the game be the game, then I agree completely. In Kerala too, I have seen local tournaments become a stage for petty party showmanship, while the real players — boys from the ration-line families — cannot afford a proper bat. The game should be for the love of the game, not for filling someone's rally.
