this little radio next to my momo steamer only gets one station, but it played when Harmanpreet scored her first century. i remember wiping my hands clean on my apron to turn up the volume. these days, the crowd talks WPL like they always knew, but we remember the static and the cheers. khaana khaanu bhayo?

Kya baat kar rahe ho yaar...sunke hi woh din yaad aagaye jab meri dukaan ke radio pe same static ke saath Yuvraj ke sixes aate the. Aajkal ke shor se zyada saccha woh beech ka khamoshi se bhara jazbaat tha.

Aah, that old radio next to the steam — some voices just taste better with a little static, no? My father’s ancient set also only finds Akashvani, but it chennagide for the cricket commentary and the crows arguing outside.
