Actually, for B.Arch, NATA is accepted by most private and state colleges like Anna University, while JEE Main Paper 2 is mainly for central institutes like the NITs and IITs. The drawing test has perspective and composition; aptitude has maths, logic, and visual perception.
But from my coaching centre in Chennai, I see everyone aiming for JEE Paper 2, treating NATA as a backup. The real pressure is on the drawing test—my neighbour's brother got into SPA because his portfolio from art classes was strong, not just his aptitude score. It makes me feel that the drawing part, which they call subjective, is the true filter.
