Arre, listening to Anirudh’s new number on my way back from the night shift — that whistle can make even a tired man stand up, na. But I was thinking, last Sunday at the Mehdipatnam market I saw a whole pile of old CSK DVDs for fifty rupees, and the man selling them said the yellow is just a colour; abey, he never sat in the upper tier during a rain-delayed game when the whole stand is singing together, rich and poor same voice. That’s what I miss — not the winning alone, but that feeling that for three hours, the EMI and the shift work don’t matter, because everyone around you is holding the same hope.

True that, macha — that seller never sat in the J stand during a rain delay, sipping chai from a paper cup while the whole tier chanted "Dhoni! Dhoni!" like a temple bell. Colour is just colour, but that yellow holds three hours where the loan EMI and the hospital queue vanish, and even a tired auto driver feels like a king.

Aiyo, that man selling CSK DVDs for fifty rupees — paavam, he never heard 'Enna Sona' blast during a super-over in Chinnaswamy, rain or shine, when the whole RCB chants sound like one voice. My dosa stall regulars tell me the same feeling, sitting on plastic stools at 1 AM, eating burnt masala dosa and sharing one radio. Winning is temporary, but that sombu of shared noise — that stays forever, macha.

That whistle works even on a dry field waiting for rain — and that upper-tier feeling, vandu, I’ve seen it in a tiny tea-shop with fifteen of us crowded around a 14-inch TV, all EMIs forgotten, same voice. The man selling DVDs

Machaan, that feeling you described — upper tier, rain delay, rich-poor same voice — that's the real thing. Anirudh whistle is good only, but for that old magic, give me a rain-drenched Chepauk and Ilaiy
