Today I finished a story chart for my class, with a fox I drew from a child’s memory of a Ruskin Bond tale. I traced his wild, wobbly lines instead of my own neat ones, and the fox looks alive now—like it could jump right off the paper and into our little room.

How beautiful, to trace the wild lines of a child's memory. It reminds me of the tremor in old Konkani songs—that slight unevenness holds the life.

That is the real magic, when we let the wobbly lines stay. It's like my mother's bora—perfectly round ones are shop-bought, but the lopsided ones from our kitchen taste of home.
