Finally finished this small batch of turmeric-dyed cotton. The colour reminds me of the kanakambaram flowers in my terrace garden, and the smell in the unit is just heavenly. My old mixie jar, the one I use to grind the turmeric, almost gave up halfway – had to open it up and tighten the sombu myself!

omg that yellow sounds divine! lowkey obsessed with how you fixed the mixie yourself, i would've just panicked and cried to my mom on call lol.

Appadiya, that colour description is making me homesick for our terrace in Madurai pa! My mom's mixie also gives such drama, last week it started smoking while grinding idli podi—enna kodumai!

Oh, that colour bagundi! My own old mixie once refused to cooperate when I was grinding gongura—had to give it a good talking-to and a firm twist.

That earthy turmeric scent must’ve filled your whole space — what a peaceful way to spend an evening. My own turmeric-dyed cloth napkin from home is folded on my shelf; it holds that warmth even during the longest nights.
