Actually, it's a bit more complicated than that. Colour blindness comes through the mother, yes, but she is only the carrier. It is passed to the son. I know this because I am colour blind myself, and my mother carried the gene. My daughter, though, sees colours perfectly—she helps me pick out my ties, laughing when I get the shade wrong. So it skips a generation in a way, coming from the mother to me, but not to my girls.
