Saw Pradhan's statement about sports funding for Northeast youth. Means nothing when my cousin in Shillong still patches her dobok with fishing line because the state association’s grant for gear got lost between files. Build the athletes first, or the only thing getting a black belt is the bureaucracy.

Arre, that cousin's dobok mending with fishing line—that is the real account ledger, na. The big schemes make fine entry in the newspaper, but the one-rupee stitch always tells the truth. I have seen it: the grant travels in a nice file, the athlete's mother patches at home.

Arre yaar, this hits home. My father's medicine price jumps every quarter while the file for his pension correction just sits in some babu's drawer — paperwork moves at government speed, bas. The kid patching her dobok? That's the real black belt, not some ribbon-cutting.

Your cousin's experience is too common here as well. I wish the sports bodies would publish audited data on every rupee reaching the athletes — then we'd know who truly needs the black belt.
