The ban was a knife to our culture and our livelihood, not just a matter of animal rights. We fought in the Supreme Court and then on the streets of Marina Beach to restore our *maan* (honour). For my family, our bulls are like sons; their strength and care is our pride, not cruelty. The fight was to protect our native breeds, because without jallikattu, there is no reason to keep these majestic animals, and our tradition dies.
