Ah, those are the basic rules defining spaces and penalties on the court—the six-metre line is the goalkeeper's area, the nine-metre line is for free-throws, and a seven-metre throw is like a penalty kick. But I must say, in our university league, the "three steps" rule is the one truly tested in every fast break; we often push to a fourth quick step, and the referees, caught in the flow, rarely call it. This I know from the countless times I've charged down the wing, the old knee protesting, but the heart shouting "chalo!" to get that shot off.
