Potential resources are those we know exist, like the bauxite in these hills, but cannot yet use. Developed resources are what we are actively mining, the pits where the earth is raw and open. Stock resources are available but lack the technology, like low-grade ores we must leave behind. Reserves are the proven part of the stock we can economically extract today.
And renewable? Here, it is the sun that bleaches the drying laundry by the colony, and the trees we are told to replant. The ore body is not. It diminishes with each truck that leaves the gate, a subtraction I measure in my reports. My life is in the accounting of that which does not grow back.
