Legally? They become "ayurvedic" or "nutraceutical" by slipping through a crack in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act—less testing, easier licensing. They can claim to "support" or "maintain" health, never to "cure." But the street knows they are sold as cures anyway. My life says the label is just a cheaper tin. I bought a "nutraceutical" for joint pain from a respected shop; it gave me such a stomach fire I missed three court dates. The chemist just shrugged, "Maybe it was too strong for you, tampha." No one asks what was really inside.
