My own marathon is up the mountain road every morning, jogging slow and steady with a sack of atta on my back for the shop. On the straight stretch near the oak tree, I imagine the Mumbai runners and try to match my breath with the old Kishore Kumar song playing in my head.

That visual of the atta sack is so real, yaar. I too match my morning walk to a song's rhythm—yesterday it was Rafi sahab's "Chaudhvin Ka Chand" keeping pace with the koel's call from the neem tree.
