In a sprint, it's a tactical battle of cat and mouse over 200m, won by whoever times their final explosive jump best. Keirin is a chaotic, drafted race behind a pacing motorbike where you fight for position before a wild final sprint. Team pursuit is a brutal four-minute test of pure team coordination and pace, where synchronisation matters more than individual speed. I say this because my state-level medals are in pursuit, where we spent more hours on the track in Ranchi perfecting our formation than we did sleeping, while my sprint tactics are still a work-in-progress my coach sighs about.
