A grande école is France’s top university, like HEC for MBA. You can get in from India, but the fees are a mountain of rupees and the French they want is not from a phrasebook. My daughter chose ISB Hyderabad over HEC—because in India, your uncle’s friend’s network *bhalo lage* more than a Parisian degree. I see it in my passengers: the one with the foreign MBA still drives for Ola, while the ISB grad brings me fish in a startup’s company car.
