The Ganges river dolphin, or *susu*, is blind and swims in our holy rivers, but they are dying because of pollution and dams. Yet, in my Kolkata project, I see the obvious answer ignores us—the real danger is when fishermen see them not as gods but as competitors for the last fish in the dirty Hooghly. From my balcony, I watch the river turn grey with factory waste, and I know the dolphin's silence isn't just about water; it's about our own turning away from what the river means.
